Let's get this fishing party started

I am sitting in Winnipeg right now and just installed a new monitor (HP 2009M). It looks really great and I'm impressed. What does this have to do with fishing? Well, Winnipeg does have some good fishing spots or so I'm told and perhaps tomorrow, I'll have something to report. Maybe even a photo or two.

The Stamp River February 4th, 2007

We went out with Nick from West Coast River Charters in Port Alberni on Sunday. The day was pretty wet and cold to begin with and I was glad of the propane heater in the boat. Second cast, wham ! Steelie, on and gone. The day was awesome, the water was low and clear and the other traffic on the river was minimal. The fishing dropped off in the afternoon but I had already caught my limit so I proceeded to smoke a cigar and pray to the fish Gods that my buddy would get another one.

9 for the day, I hooked 8, landed 3, kept 2 nice does, my buddy hooked and landed his first Steelhead but she was wild and was released. Oh yeah, my first Steelhead as well.

Nick was awesome as always. Check out West Coast River Charters if you're thinking of heading over.

Here is a pic of my first ever Steely.

The Stamp Steelhead Trip

Heading over to Port Alberni on Saturday the 3rd of Feb and fishing all day Sunday the 4th with West Coast River Charters. Nick is simply one of the best guides around so it should be a great day. The weather is looking good, it may be clear and cold but that's awesome in my books. Report and pics to follow upon my return.

First Fly Rod

Yesterday I received my first fly rod ever. I have been wanting to try for some Trout or Dollys in the upper Squamish and now I'll be able to give it a whirl, perhaps in the next week if I'm lucky. I bought an entry level set-up to begin with just in case I don't like it, which of course is highly unlikely.

Rod - Dragonfly 9' 6 weight.

Reel - Dragonfly with two cartridges.

Line - Sinking tip line #4.

Leader - 10 Lb Maxima Ultragreen.

Flies - Egg sucking leeches and a few other patterns.

I can't wait to give it a try.

What's here and how to get there.

I deleted almost everything on this site and re-dedicated it to fishing. Fishing has become my pursuit, my passion and my way to get closer to things that really matter to me. Above all, fishing gives me a chance to relax and enjoy being outside.

To the right you'll see the menu of available items to look at should you feel like it. At the top is something called furl which allows me to share my bookmarks with anyone who clicks the link. This is where I keep all of my fishing related links.

Next you'll find fishing videos and photos, a collection of various rivers and trips for your enjoyment.

There are two sections dedicated to digital photography which to some may seem incongruous but to me, are a perfect fit as they produce the medium that allows me to share my experiences.

Next, you'll find previous posts and the archives section which are self explanatory.

Lastly, you'll find my rating system or "stars" for various articles, posts, rants, etc. Use the chart to decide what you want to read. Notice I gave this post 5 stars.
